About the Project and its Partners

The Women Entrepreneurs for Women Entrepreneurs (WE4WE) Project is a joint initiative by Passing Gifts Private Limited (PGPL) and the Association of Business Women in Commerce & Industry (ABWCI).

The project aims to accelerate women-led development by strengthening women-led Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) in tribal and rural Odisha.

Core Focus Areas

Under this initiative, ABWCI collaborated with four women-led FPOs in the Koraput district of Odisha, which primarily dealt with cultivating turmeric, ginger, and small millets. The project fostered economic empowerment poverty alleviation and social development.

Its two core focus areas were:

Establishing sustainable market linkages to ensure predictable income and enhanced market access

Conducting tailored mentoring sessions for the women-led Board of Directors (BoDs) and office bearers of the FPOs.

Mentorship and Broader Impact

Mentorship was a cornerstone of the project. ABWCI onboarded experienced women entrepreneurs as mentors to engage directly with the women BoDs.

The mentoring sessions were customized to meet each FPO’s need and covered diverse topics such as learning from the journeys of successful women entrepreneurs, enhancing visibility through digital and social media platforms, and building readiness for export markets. The WE4WE initiative exemplifies the power of women-led organizations.

When equipped with the right tools, networks, and support systems, these organizations can drive transformative change within their communities. By amplifying women's leadership in agriculture and enterprise, the initiative is promoting financial independence, strengthening decision-making, and advancing inclusive, women-led development outcomes.
